Answer 1 : KIP
kip, kips, kipped, kipping – v
to sleep
SYNONYMS
catnap, doze, drowse, nap, slumber, snooze
IN A SENTENCE
after a rigorous walk over the Devon moors, I needed to kip down a bit on the daybed
Can I kip here tonight?
ETYMOLOGY
Etymologists think it comes from an old German word via Dutch. Kip (or Kyppe, or Kippe) was a leather hide out of which a bag for travelling was made. To kip out was to take your bag and stay away from home. Kipping out of course would be shortened to kipping, and kipping in a place that you paid for or were a guest in would involve, at some point, sleeping somewhere.
Answer 2 : POWER NAP
noun
A short sleep taken during the working day in order to restore one’s mental alertness.
SYNONYMS
snooze, doze, kip, nap
EXAMPLES:
‘Body temperature falls to a daytime low in the early afternoon, making you feel sluggish – prime time for a power nap.’
‘This difference is partially due to the number of participants in the current study who reported power naps that lasted less than 20 minutes.’
‘Bedding down by your desk may not be the answer, but using a room for a post-lunch power nap could work.’
‘This is one of those 15 minute power naps they raved about on the time management course you sent me on.’
